Rapid changes in the power industry related to the development of Smart Grids and the need to retrofit the run-down power infrastructure in Poland are a challenge to the scientific community working in the power industry field. Addressing those issues, for many years the Institute has been creating efficient power engineering solutions meeting the ever-changing requirements.

Our position in the power industry has been established over 25 years ago, when the Tele & Radio Research Institute, as the first company in Poland, with ZWAR Group and the Institute of Power Engineering, has developed and introduced a general purpose MV switchgear protection system called MUPASZ Microprocessor Unit for Protection, Automatics, Measurements and Control),patented Pat.171537. Several generations of intelligent bay control units and data communication systems, compatible with switchgear offered by the leading manufacturers, have been developed so far and implemented in the power facilities in Poland and abroad. The Tele & Radio Research Institute, using the latest technologies and state of the art research and development laboratories develops innovative power engineering projects, from design and research to practical implementation.

The research and implementation processes are carried out in the Electronics and Data Communication Centre, Vacuum Technologies Centre, PCB Innovation Centre and relate to the data communication systems, components and devices for improving efficiency, safety and reliability of the power facilities and improving energy quality for the development of SMART POWER GRIDS.

Our indisputable success is the development and implementation of a non-conventional core-less PCB current transducer, which along with the latest generation of MUPASZ control units contribute to retrofitting and designing new intelligent switchgear by our industrial partners. Our priority is to create innovative solutions for our clients to manufacture advanced and competitive products. Our research and implementation are carried out in a close cooperation with universities and research institutes, as well as large and small companies in Poland and abroad. A synergy of our research, design and implementation teams allows us to constantly improve our solution, widely recognized by our clients. The innovation of our solutions and implementations has been recognized by many awards in Poland and abroad and over 50 patents.
